Acne is a skin disease that has become so common that we have forgotten how much it can affects someone’s mental state. Although we don’t like to admit it we all judge people by there appearance, after all it is the first thing we see.

So what does a person with acne go through? To begin you wake up in the morning and look in the mirror, getting ready for your day, it’s hard to feel good when you have one pimple let alone a face full. You know your going to be judged, people thinking your dirty and ugly, even if your dressed nice and have your hair done. You feel the world staring at your acne and not even noticing the person behind it.

Then you have the try this and try that people all assuming that you haven’t tried every treatment out there with the hope that this time it’ll work. Sometimes the frustration of nothing working can be overwhelming and not understanding why your acne won’t go away.

Teens with acne have a very hard time because they are at the point in there life where they are trying to figure out who they are and where they belong. Acne makes that task harder because of the immaturity or youth, some people can be cruel and words do hurt.

Parent should make a point to talk with there teens about acne weather they have it or not so they understand how mentally painful it can be and to look past the acne to the person.

Adults with acne have personal issues that the same of teens, but instead it is with other adults especially in the work place. A lot of people don’t even know that Adult acne is actually a common form of acne because it is most commonly associated with teens. It can effect adults when trying to get a job either because of there appearance to the employer or there low self-esteem effects they performance in an interview because of feeling judged

Over all Acne effects the self esteem of the people living with it. Physically it affects each person differently and there is no cure, just management treatments. Finding the one that work for you is a long and emotional process. So if you are living with acne know your not alone in how you mentally and emotionally feel, and those of you that don’t have it take a bit more care and find out who the person behind the acne is, after all it’s what’s inside that counts!
